Pink's brush with death was a wake-up call after a dangerous night out
American singer Pink’s journey towards sobriety and fame wasn’t easy. At the tender age of 15, she had an overdose which served as a wake-up call for her and made her the person she is today.
Pink aka Alecia Beth Moore Hart’s life took a turn for the better after her first near brush with death. She joined a music group called Choice at the age of 16 along with Sharon Flanagan and Chrissy Conway. Their first official single Key To Heart was impressive enough to help them land a record deal with LaFace Records.

Pink’s near brush with death at the age of 15 was a wake-up call
Pink has been unapologetically honest about her tumultuous teen days, when she became a “hard-core partyer from the ages of 12 to 15.” She has revealed over the years that she was on almost all party drugs.
“I was like a candy raver and I was on all the club drugs, eventually ending up selling ecstasy, crystal meth, and Special K,” she said in an interview.
The height of Pink’s drug addiction hit the lowest of lows when she overdosed at the age of 15. She recalled the incident saying, “It wasn’t to the point of going to the hospital, but I remember getting up off the floor in the morning – and that was the last time I ever touched a drug again.”
Pink’s troubled childhood that led to the drug addiction
Pink’s turn to the wild side of life happened as she dealt with huge personal challenges. Her parents divorced at an early age resulting in her being shuttled between homes quite frequently.
Speaking of the time, she revealed: “Nobody asked your age on club doors and everyone had fake IDs anyway,” adding, “I wasn’t interested in school, sports, hobbies, or any of the other supposedly healthy things kids should be into. I just wanted to get high. I was running wild and heading for a fall.”
After the inevitable had happened, it was only a journey of going up and onwards as she gushed: “I was the pariah of my school and the shameful specimen of my disjointed family. I was lucky to survive and, since then, I never touched drugs.”
